Billy Connolly's 'joke' about Ken Bigley

Hi, happened to be watching tv when 'Richard & Judy' was on - they were talking about Billy Connolly and some 'joke' he made about Ken Bigley. Apparently he said something like 'Perhaps i shouldn't say this but...isn't everyone getting sick of it in the papers? why don't they just get on with it?' Now he is denying it and saying that he did not mean it in that way. Just wondered what evry1 here thinks about it.

Yeah, he was making some sick jokes about it (can't remember what they were now). My English teacher had a rant about it the other day.
I think it was out of order whatever he said cos he was making jokes out of something so evil....
Media do influence people, though Billy should know better.

Yeah, he apparently said 'Aren't you all like me and wishing they'd just get on with it? And what's with that Asian wife of is?' That's just sick. I can't believe he could joke about an innocent man being beheaded by barabric Muslim fanatics while he was trying to HELP Iraq.

I think he was criticising the media more than just making an inappropriate joke. Perhaps he was just saying what all the editors were thinking.

He's always been contraversial and sometimes inappropriate.

His name shouldn't have been brought up in a comedy sketch or show full stop.

A mate was in the audience at the apollo when they said that, apparrently everyone just looked at him and no one laughed, quite rightly.

Miserable gits! He's a comedian! He's one of the few good ones we've got left. It might not have been the most tasteful joke but there's no need to get worked up about it.

lol, i was thinking about how many anti-iraqi jokes i hear...
Never liked his brand of humour particularly.

Jack Dee...even Eddie Izzard are preferable.

I think all this faux media outrage is just as bad as all the faux media symapthy he was trying to expound.

Not Eddie Izzard!

Billy's a genius!
It's a shame for the chap's family, but other than that.... well, so what? I am sick of the endless media coverage. Frankly, I am more offended by "ugly Ann Widecombe" jokes, but no one ever critises them. After all, it is kinda ridiculus.

Ken Bigley goes to place where lots and lots of foreign 'do-gooders' get kidnapped.
Ken Bigley, foreign do-gooder gets kidnapped.
Ken Bigley seems surprised.

It a shame. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but its neither unprecedented or as important as many other issues.
