The Student Room Group

I’m thinking of dropping out of uni.

I’m in my second year of university and I’m not enjoying it that much anymore. Last year I loved it, I went to every lecture, went clubbing all the time and was really happy. Now I have to make myself get up and go to my lectures, I don’t really want to go out clubbing anymore and I’m not really that happy at uni anymore I just spend all my time in my room. I thought i was becoming depressed but I came home for a couple of weeks and I’ve never been happier. I’m enjoying my life and I’m going out socialising. I’m going back to uni in a couple of days and I’m really dreding it. I’m just not sure if I should drop out or carry on and finish my degree.
Hey @HannahSkipsey

Oh no, that’s really sad to hear, but so many people feel the same. You’re not alone. If you are living far from home it may just be that you are feeling home sick. One of my friends at uni felt the same and I told her to go home and then see how she feels.

Is it university as a whole that you’re not enjoying or is it your course? University is an experience and an achievement that you will never forget and you deserve to have an amazing time while you’re there. Have you tried speaking to your friends, family or your tutor about how you feel?
Just remember when all the hard work is over, you will walk proudly across the graduation stage saying to yourself, “I did this!” Believe me, it is a moment you will never forget!

I hope this helps and remember you need to do what makes you happy.

Feel free to ask me any questions. I’m happy to help

A good plate of mum's spaghetti bolognese is all you need.
