Best way to revise maths . . .

So I'd quite like to know how you revise GCSE maths.

Currently, i go through the basic theory using revision guides and my excersize books, and then i go through past questions found in my excersize books.

Can anyone perhaps suggest some other ways, or ways which work for them.

Thanks

pastpapers are still the best.

I found the best method was not just reading notes, but literally repeating the questions from textbooks over and over again, until I could do it with my eyes closed. I hope this works for you, and good luck.

Past papers are probably the best revision you can do relative to the time you put into doing it, i.e. an hour of past paper work is better than an hour reading over your textbook.

textbook questions for me.

Yeah, questions are a must, and do some past papers, preferably timed. It really works. Good luck .

practice, and lots of it...
I keep doing the harder stuff, getting my teacher to check it, until I can do it no probs.
But getting revision book with all the basic skills laid out in a simple fashion really helps- I have well-worn letts one that has got me through my year 10 and 11 mocks nicely.
But yeah, basically practice papers are the way to go.

past papers - without a shadow of a doubt

Well what I'm doing at the moment is reading the text book and then exhausting every question I can find.
Then use the MathsWatch CD if I don't understand something or want more questions to do.
Then Past papers, which I'll start doing in a while.

revision
past papers
revsion
past papers.

hell, sometimes cheating in past papers by looking at revision notes/sites helps cos then you leanr how to do it. Just makes sure you UNDERSTAND how to get the answer, not just the answer.

Past Papers work for me, i get one a week from school and they are actually handy.

In my opinion past papers have always been the best way of revising maths. When you get stuck on a question, have a look at the theory on the internet/in a revision guide/ask a teacher and then re-attempt the question to see if you understood it properly.

OK, what you have to do is find the places where you slip up. Do a whole past aper at home. Now mark it, and revise the places where you lost marks. now do those quetions again and learn the method. Repeat this to death

For the mocks I didnt revise till the last 2 days with matheltics and nothing else - and I got an A. For my next mock i will use past papers to boost my results

Absolutely 100% agree, but your school has to be logged into it. If it isn't, I'd suggest talking you your maths teachers about it:biggrin:
