Do you have any rough ideas about any of these things that we could flesh out ?

Working backwards we can assume that the high number of Germans voting (can you compare this to other turn outs?) could be a symptom of 'Germans desire for democracy'

However statistics can only really take you so far, do you have any information before the vote that can help build a point?

Yes! This could be an excellent point against the idea that it was a desire for democracy. The Kiel Mutiny certainly could be argued to play a big part in the formation of the Weimar Republic.

What do you know of the mutiny's causes? This is close to a full point in the essay.

They refused to sail against the British Fleet and this shows that at this point they had been frustrated with the government as they had no compromised and therefore many people felt a democracy was needed because it could deal with problems ????

Almost.

Check out this resource or this one here.

To me, the mutiny from the sailors is not for a desire for democracy, but rather for self preservation, objecting to a largely suicidal and pointless attack planned by the high ranking military minds.

If we agree that this mutiny is a big cause of the Weimar Republic, then I would argue this can go in the negative column of the essay. This Mutiny was not based on a desire for democracy, rather than an objection of the current ruling based on self preservation.

Therefore the mutiny is an alternative rather than a need for democracy
