I never text my friends after school; I don't have many friends to text. I only hang out with one person like every few weeks. I see others and they're constantly texting and hanging out with so many people. Is this bad? I would like to be closer to people, but everytime I try to socialise with people, they view me as a bit awkward. I feel like things, socially, might get a bit easier when I get to sixth form and uni.

I’ve always been a bit socially awkward so I’m talking from experience here. Seeing as you’re young, first things first is; give it time. Your personality will change a bit as you grow older, so don’t rush it and try and change yourself into something you’re not.

Secondly, yes, when you get to sixth form and uni you’ll meet more people and it’s very likely these people have more things in common with you than before (or it’ll be perseeved that way at least) when you were at school. People are maturer and have also broadened their own minds a bit more.

Just focus on the things that are important, studying, family and yourself. Have opinions. Don’t be afraid to stick up for yourself. Having a strong character but not a loud one, people admire this and can look up to that. So being confident and head strong is the best and people will be drawn to that.
