Dear SFE,

Please help, I'm getting mixed messages as to whether I can apply for full-time funding for a 2nd degree. I am hoping to take up the following course at Hull University - https://www.hull.ac.uk/study/ug/2019...-training.aspx - a BSc in biology (with teacher training). However, I already graduated some years ago from my first degree.

I realise that some STEM subjects, including biology, are eligible for additional funding for a second degree on a part-time basis, but I also know that teaching subjects are also exempt on a full-time basis (e.g. PGCE). As my intended course falls between the gaps somewhat, I was wondering if I may be eligible for full-time funding because it also has a teacher training element?

Please advise

Hi there,

As your new teacher training course is over 2 years and you already hold a degree then you are eligible for Maintenance Loan only and supplementary grants if applicable.

Thanks, Chanel
