is it too soon to put up Christmas decorations??
Yes it is the first of December is the absolute earliest they should go up I'm not putting mine up until the 15th this year because my Birthday is on the 8th and I usually put them up the weekend after that.

I've always found it so strange that shops start selling Christmas stuff as soon as Hallowe'en is over. And the towns over here put up the Christmas decorations last week. We put ours up at the beginning of Advent.
My local shop completely skipped Halloween it seemed (other than putting up a notice saying that flour and eggs would be age-restricted items during that period...). By mid-October we already had advent calendars.

To me, it's not really Christmas until the last week of term.

For my family it's normally the 1st of December at the earliest and maybe the 14th at the latest. Its too early to put them up now but it doesn't bother me much really. When I went skiing in Italy in February lots of people in the town's we drove through still had their decorations up so really it's just a cultural thing I think.

Nothing Christmas-related belongs in November. After that, it's a free-for-all.

I think the usual date is the 7th December?
I don't think there is a usual date, though when I was a kid the majority of people put their decorations up on 24 December.

Local council has the lights up and burning brightly. If they're starting now why shouldn't I? As a student I'll only be here for three weeks or so now so I may as well make the most of the decs here before heading home.

Leave the lights up all year round. Just illuminate them at Christmas.

I think it can vary each year because of advent. I think advent is 3 December this year, and people usually put it up around start of advent.
But we are usually 6 December

I don't understand why people do it before December 1st. I know someone who put theirs up 2 weeks ago though.

We don't bother until a couple days before Christmas.
Similar

We don’t discuss Christmas at all until my birthday is over. 25/11. ( although I will have planned financially!)
Decorations go up the Sunday before Christmas. Although not if that Xmas eve. Bit tight even for me. So anything around 7 days. They come down around the 3/1 but the wreath stays on the door until 6/1, twelfth night

Started the day with a great belly laugh. Wonderful.

Seriously you cannot be serious.
Advent is the 24 days leading to Christmas. Every year. Without fail. It starts on the 1st. And finishes on 24th.
