I’m taking P1, S1 and M1 in January for maths IAL. The problem is that I’m in the further maths class and I’m planning to drop FM after the jan exams because I feel like I can’t cope with it. Is this combination of modules allowed? Am I allowed to continue on with the rest of the modules, i.e. P2, P3, P4?

Edexcel IAL is a modular qualification so yes, when you enter for the pure maths modules required for the Maths A level you can apply to cash in your results and will be awarded the qualification.

Got my results yesterday and I got 93 for P1, 81 for S1 and 70 for M1. Is this bad? How much more do I need to get for my other papers at least for an A*?

You need a total 480 that includes 180 from P3+p4

480+ gives you an A; if within that you get at least 180 for P3 and P4 combined you will get an A*.

You cannot get A* for AS.

ok, but if we’re talking about A2, how much more do I need to get for the rest of the papers?

Add up the marks so far - 244 I think - so you need 180 from P3 and P4 plus 56 for P2 [which should be easy if you get those marks for P3 and P4].
