Which date to apply for?

I've already submitted my application for postgraduate study at Oxford. My course, along with many others that I've seen have two deadlines, one in November and one in January. I had my application ready, so I submitted for the November deadline. I'm wondering now if there's an advantage to applying at either time.

Does anyone know if there's a better deadline to apply for? For example, are there typically fewer applications for the first deadline, meaning it's more advantageous to apply in November? Or vice versa?
