When I was 20 and at uni I was hit by an uninsured driver. I only had 3rd party cover due to cost. 18 months later I got a few hundred pounds for my written off car via the MIB.

Not a scrap of sympathy. I hope they throw the book at you.

Exactly the same as above.

I hope you get the maximum pal. Did you come on here looking for sympathy?

You’ll have been given 7 days to prove you have insurance.

If you fail to produce you’ll be charged for that and your car will be seized. (165A RTA 1988).

You’ll get 6 points probably but that’s a matter for the court.

You’re an idiot, enjoy getting ripped to pieces at court.

A car numberplate can easily be checked for insurance. The police most likely pulled you over because something flagged on their systems. You won't get away with having no insurance, you will get something in the mail within the week I shouldn't doubt.

Indeed.
Need to get through to MIB to unequivocally prove so Police possibly were not able to at the time.

I've never been stopped by police, so I don't really understand what they can and can't do at the roadside. All I know is the numberplate can show if your car has tax a current MOT and insurance. The poster no doubt thinks because they were able to drive away they are in the clear, that's not how it works if your car is registered to you and your address!
