Asthma

I don’t have asthma but was prescribed an asthma pump when I was 9. I don’t use it at all. Can I still join?

Hi

You don't say which of the armed forces you're looking to apply for. How old are you now?

For the RAF if you have had any history of asthma (symptom or prescription) then it will preclude entry for aircrew roles. If you have any history before your 16th birthday then you will need to be five years symptom and prescription-free before you're able to apply for ground based roles. So if you're under 16 and still have a prescription, stop getting it!

If you've had either a prescription or symptom after your 16th birthday then you'll be unable to apply for any role.

Kind regards
Adam
