Hey guys,

I want to work in business in the future but I'm not sure what sector yet. Do any of you know unis that offer flexible business degrees? I looked at Brighton and they offer to change their business management degree into different ones such as with economics after the first year. Im looking for unis that offer this type of course.

Business degrees are usually flexible as they allow students to choose options in areas they wish to major in.

Hello there,

It is great you are interested in studying a degree within the field of Business. I am a current Marketing Management student here at Lancaster University and have studied modules in Psychology, Management and Leadership, Sustainability and Organisational Behaviour. This is all thanks to our fantastic flexible degree routes and major/minor system.

This sounds perfect for what you are looking for so I would recommend checking out these links to develop a better understanding.

Essentially this means you could take a degree in Business, but specialise in Economics if that is your preference. There are so many options within Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) so if you would like to find out more then please get in touch and I would happily try and help!

Have a good day,

Rebecca

Hey!

I was exactly the same as you in that I didn't know which area of business I wanted to go into. I chose to study Management at Bath and have found the course really flexible.

Within the Management School you can study variations of Accounting and Finance and Business and Management (i.e. with marketing, with/without placement, with a language etc.) although you do have to pick which variation when you apply. However, once you are on any of the courses, you can tailor your degree as you wish through the optional modules.

I am part of the group of students that fall under Management, Management with Marketing and International Management where our first year is the same. This covers all areas of business such as marketing, finance, accounting, HR, analytics, organisational behaviour, international business, economics etc.

Once you go into second year, you can start to specialise. I studied Management and therefore had to do Law and Finance as my complusory modules in Semester 1, however I picked all the other marketing modules. It depends how much you care about what your degree title says, as I have basically done Management with Marketing but will graduate with a straight Management degree.

I hope this helps and just quote me if you have any more questions

Hey Mr.My Favourite Type of Chicken

I've just applied to my B100 - Introduction into Business and Management with Open University.

They give 2 routes in your Certificate in Higher Education (Eqivalent to a HNC) which is business or business accounting.

Once you progress to your level 2 (after 120 credits) this is where you can start to branch out. Economics, Leadership, Marketing, Accontancy, Finance etc.

Great thing is once you get your Level 2 (240 Credits - Diploma - Equivalent to a HND) you can finish off your last 120 credits for your final 2 years in a brick uni if you really want to progress further.

I already have qualifications in Mechanical Engineering as I work as Subsea Engineer in the offshore industry. However Project Management has caught my eye and feel is time to start the career change. If you dont mind self stufy. OU is for you, you can get 120 credits in 2 years part time (16-18 hours per week)
