Dropping maths a level

need some advice i’m currently studying maths, business, geography and sociology A Level at 6th form.
i got a grade 6 at gcse and was only going to do maths a level if got a 7. i was persuaded to still take it tho.

i’m not getting great results, most of the time it’s 60% to pass and i’m averaging at 40% to 50%. i go to drop in every week and meet with head of maths every week for an hour. - so do put in extra hours.

should i drop maths and go down to 3 a levels? advice would be greatly appreciated xxx
Definitely drop down to 3 A-Levels, but out of curiosity do you know what you want to do at Uni/Apprenticeship? Cause it’s quite a wide variety of options.

But if Maths isn’t necessary or helpful in what you want to apply for, I’d drop it

Mathematics is a core subject though like the sciences or English.
Having it shows the ability to study at a certain level.
It's a more 'general' A-level but it can open up more doors then your other A-levels which are good a-levels but are more specialised.

It really depends what you want to do at university if your not sure then maybe keep it.

It’s better to do less A-Levels and get better grades than to do more and get, on average, poorer grades. Unless you’re applying for Maths, Computer Science, Economics or Engineering - it’s not really a necessary subject.

I’d personally drop it, but ultimately its your decision. Best of luck
If you struggle with it, don't enjoy it and have no need for it then why take it? Honestly this is why people shouldn't try to persuade people to do subjects because this is what happens, now you've wasted a load of time that you could have spent on other subjects. I would drop it, if you don't drop it you will probably improve over these 2 years but really what's the point because that will take lots of effort that could be better spent elsewhere.

I'll just add that you also need it for other degrees such as physics and sometimes economic. It's useful for a lot of other degrees but not required.

Very true! I just assumed they wouldn’t be applying for Physics because they didn’t do it at A-Level aha
