Use a different line? Not possible if you live in Epping.

Also not possible if you are reliant on private rail, and it's more expensive too.

Do you have your rose tinted glasses on again? Tube journeys are already incredibly expensive in terms of distance/price and only the pay as you go fares are frozen, not travelcards.

Why does glorious TfL have a massive hole in their budget, and where's Crossrail?

The tube isn't that expensive. It's not as expensive as the privately owned tram in Manchester, or the private rail systems in London. It also has a night tube, which other rail and tram systems don't generally. But I'm all for making it even cheaper for the passenger through taxation.

It's also frozen its fare prices, unlike private rail. Rail punctuality is at 12 year low, customer satisfaction is shocking and they deem it appropriate to raise fares. Privatisation rewarding failure, again.

All construction projects run over time and over budget. Planning for crossrail has largely come from central government, not TFL.

The Paris tram for example, is publicly owned, heavily subsidised and very cheap for the passenger. Generally regarded as one of the best. Funny that.

You're very selective as usual. How is £2.40 for a journey within zone 1 not incredibly expensive?

TfL "freezing" fares is completely disingenuous, watch them shoot up when Khan leaves to cover his mess.

During peak hours. It's still not as expensive as the tram in Manchester, or private rail. You also have tubes every 1-2 minutes in peak hours. What's expensive is £300 for a peak fare between London and Manchester. Or 5k plus for a season ticket from Luton.

And I'm all for making TFL even cheaper through public funding. There is no mess, it's a comprehensive, well funded service which provides good value for money.

How is it disingenuous? It will save passengers a lot of money, while private rail firms continue to fleece them. What's disingenuous is raising prices after a 12 year low for rail punctuality.

So now people are being asked to pay hundreds of pounds more for a service getting worse by the year.

Maybe trains aren't getting more expensive, people (on average) are just getting poorer...
