Those online quizzes are very generous in giving points- you may not have 'sever' depression as such, but its certainly a sign that you may be depressed. Go to the doctors and speak to them if you feel you need to
when i went to my GP about it he gave me a print out of one of the online tests to fill in.

the reality is that depression is extremely hard to diagnose. Do you feel you may be depressed?

What symptoms do you have? I think you need to go to your GP and explain what's going on first, before you think about psychiatrists.
Whoa whoa whoa. First things first - do you feel as though you're depressed, are you unhappy? THEN you should see a doctor - not just because of a quiz. Though they do test you on the symptoms. But yeah, if you're actually feeling unhappy etc, go see a doctor. Don't go to a psychotherapist just because you think it's what people do when a website generates a couple of words and tells them how it thinks they're feeling.
If you've not felt depressed beforehand, then don't worry about it.

First of all, online tests and self-diagnosis are very unreliable. If you feel like you might be depressed then see your doctor but chances are if you were severely depressed you would most definitely know about it.
Don't rely on online tests! If you are feeling down and things aren't going well, then you know your depressed, a online test can't tell you stuff like that.

Severe depression is something your GP can't usually diagnose, you'll probably see a therapist who'll be able to help you through your problems.

But seriously you need to see your GP or a University councilor, first. Someone to talk through your problems and feelings you have, and get help.

online tests are crap and should never be used to diagnose yourself . if youre concerned see your gp.
An online test is NOT a diagnosis, Only a docotr can diagnose you with depression but online surveys can be an indication of such a problem. See your doctor if you're worried

:frown: I've done a couple of online test and they all came out with 'severe depression.' I'm really worried now, should i see a doctor or something - i never really thought that i would be diagnosed by an online quiz that i have depression but i guess that's the case...

How should i react this. Should i make an appointment tomorrow to see a psychotherapist or something? :s-smilie:

Ok thanks for your help everyone.
Explaining how you feel to us might be better than telling us you scored 'severe' on an online depression test.
Was it on msn.co.uk? i had those results too. i don't think my depression was as "severe" as said.

You'd know if you were depressed, you wouldn't need an online test to tell you that.

Go to the Dr if you feel that you are depressed.

Don't go to a psychotherapist, their quacks, ****e peddlers the lot of them. Counsellors, psychologists/psychiatrists are actually basing their therapy off something beyond what a cokehead had to say about people and their childhoods.

Why are you paying attention to what's online? I did one once out of boredom and it said i was schizophrenic!

Take the test here instead (you will have to sign up and enter), it is more likely to give you a more medically sound diagnosis:

It also takes you through a training programme for improving depression so could be worth a go through while you consider if you want to speak to a counsellor or not.

Still bad, it's fluctuating. Maybe I am mildly Bipolar. :o:

You're overplaying it in your head, maybe you are, maybe you aren't. It's not up to you to diagnose yourself because it won't be the slightest bit accurate, see your GP and you'll get proper answer.

You're right, I've stopped thinking about it. Yeah, I am currently going to my doctor about it.
