Help! Home educated and teaching myself Latin. Doing the Aeneid books 4 & 6 for set texts, could anyone please recommend an edition? The OCR website recommends the Oxford Classical Text edition but I couldn't find it.

Hi there, don't bother with the Oxford Classical Texts version as they are of little use for any help with the translation or stylistic notes.

These are the editions that I am using with my class and am finding they are useful in terms of introduction to the poem as a whole, help in translation and a full vocabulary at the back. They are both by Keith MacLennan, both published by Bristol Classical Press and both available on Amazon:

Book 4: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Virgil-Aene...words=aeneid+4

Book 6: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Virgil-Aene...words=aeneid+6

I have one or two others bits which might be useful as well, so if you're looking for more help, then just send me a private message and I'll do my best to assist.

Best of luck with it!
