I have no idea how they solved these without a calculator.

It's done for you at the end .... (those final 3 lines)

As part of GCSE spec, you are meant to learn/to know the values of sinx, cosx, & tanx (and so it follows also for cosecx, secx & cotx) for each of the angles 0,pi/6, pi/4, pi/3, pi/2, pi & 2pi.
So you should be able to extrapolate, for example, for x = 2pi/3, x=-pi/4, x=4pi/3, and so on.

The these are the values educed for the inverse trig functions.

Those are the only values used in the questions.
