Geography case studies

I've just started A-level geography and wanted to know how I'm meant to know all of these case studies? My teachers keep making us research little case studies to put into our answers and I have no clue how much I'm meant to know for each of them and how to go about learning them. Any help?
as someone in A2 I should be able to help. Ideally you would know as much as you possibly could on a variety of different case studies to fit into potential 20 markers but this is obviously unrealistic. What I do instead is become an expert on one specific case study and slowly build up others. for example, with Urban I know loads on London, Mumbai and Shanghai, but I'm planning on also adding Rio and Sydney for variation
