What do I wear to an interview at a university? Would black jeans and a proper shirt do or would I need to wear proper trousers and a blazer? How posh do I need to dress?

Applying for Palaeontology by the way so it’s not exactly a posh course I’ll spend most my time digging or in a lab cleaning fossils

Smart jeans and a collared shirt would be fine, no need for a suit. I’ve been to a few interviews and people have generally been smart casual

Hey HobbinsE

It may be worth contacting the interviewer and just finding out what they'll be expecting you to wear.

Most likely smart-casual like aforementioned, but it's definitely worth double checking (if you can).

Best of luck with the interview!!

I think it's always safer to over-dress smartly than under-dress. You would very rarely make a bad impression that way.

Yeah I was thinking that, I’ll need a shopping trip either way I don’t really own any smart clothes haha
