The Student Room Group

rejected by sainsburys

I applied online, and after a day got this reply by email:

"Thank you for your recent application for the General Asst (GA) Band 2 at St Clares A0661. Unfortunately, your skills are not a strong match for this role. Therefore, on this occasion we regret to inform you that we will not be taking your application any further.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in joining Sainsburys and for the time you invested in making your application.

Please continue to visit our website as our business is continuing to grow with new opportunities becoming available on a regular basis.

Regards,
Sainsbury's Resourcing Team. "

LOL. I think its more the fact that they get so many applications. You are definitely not stupid.
Just because you think Sainsbury's is a crap job, doesn't mean they want to take on any old moron, so they do have some standards. What did you write? Maybe you just underestimated them. Or maybe someone else who was better got the job and you just got there too late.

I got that message too, they said i didn't have enough 'experience'. Yet they took my cousin on who had NO experience and is mentally ******ed, but he applied face to face in the store, not on-line. So goes to show.

Did you do an aptitude test?
Try Lidl?

i got rejected too and i used to work in somerfield so thought it was pretty much a done deal. ah well. think i must have answered the questions wrong in their silly little test
Reply 7
Bitterness from some people :p:

It's probably just because, like someone said, that they get a lot of applications and you were one of the least suited.

^^ What they said.

If it makes you feel better, I once failed an aptitude test at Tesco, even though I had previously done the job for two years...at another branch of Tesco.

I don't know if you did an aptitude test or just wrote a letter, but I wouldn't worry about it, they just have loads of applications and have to get rid of some people somehow. They might as well just draw names out of a hat.
I've applied for Sainsbury's with a paper application. They didn't even bother to reject me - they just ignored me lol. I've got retail experience, having worked at PC World, yet they employed one of my friends who had none at all and does very little. I guess I got the better deal in the end though - she is facing a constant battle with them as she has a contract for 10 hours a week yet is always timetabled to do 20+.

Sainsbury's loss lol!

=D

I know the feeling. Me and my friend got rejected by Pets At Home. Proper paper applications and all. She had retail experiance and we both had experiance working with animals, yet they rejected both of us. Said that the level of applicants was very high.

Meh, their loss.

where did i say that i thought it was a crap job?? in fact i want to move from my current job as a sales assistant in Sportsworld, into a supermarket where i believe they will treat you better and pay more. I have about a years worth of retail experience and am going on to university with good grades.

It could be that there were loads of applicants already, since I sent my online application after a few days. (there were problems registering my details on their system). Oh wel i guess i'll keep on trying.

off topic: what's your signature about? is it one of those horrible horrible tricks where something pops up. i can't bring myself to look at it :p:

back on topic, i agree that's it's them being bombarded with applications. i've already been rejected for a night staff position, and now i'm waiting with baited breath to get rejected for the second time in 2 months. i understand how they can't decided to hire/not hire you because of your age, as it's not required on a CV and there's a 18-25 band, but surely choosing the 'I have left education within the past 6 months' and having A levels as my highest qualification MIGHT give it away that I barely fit the bracket

lol. i did end up getting this job. just reapplied under a new account. I've been there for about 6 months now, but don't want to work nights anymore. Although the pay is very good for a student. Oh and thanks for your reply Sarah! what made you bring up this old thread?
i thought i'd see what other people thought of working there and i stumbled across this thread, which seemed something like fate after having applied to work there after quitting once, being rejected a year later, but STILL i persist :o:

i'm still waiting on my reply but i'm not expecting anything. that questionnaire they throw at you at the end is a killer though. most of the answers sound pretty much the same with tiny tiny variables

which job did you get? i assume you were nightstaff before (which was the job that i applied for in vain). i imagine it to be a bit of a laugh? seeing as there would be no customers to please asking you where EVERYTHING is, oblivious of the large prominent sign posting above each isle :shifty:

Will making a new account work for me aswell? and will i need to change anydetails like telepohone numbers etc?
