University Acceptance

Which universities accept students after their IGCSE exams in Year 11 (for medicine)? I’ve heard quite a few universities do this but the student has to do a 1-3 year foundation course.

Would that be a good idea? Skipping year 11 and doing a foundation course in a university?

No uk universities accept this. You need level 3 qualifications (year 13) for entry into a degree - and particularly for medicine the foundation years available aren’t aimed at students trying to skip a year. Medicine in the uk also requires work experience/placements to make a good application. And many courses include patient contact placements in the first years and so they don’t accept applications from people who would be under 18 at the start of the course.

Trying to skip a year or more is pointless for medicine. Take your A levels over 2 years and give yourself the time to build up the experience and understanding you need to make a good application.
