it's not A it's B

discrete means individually separate and distinct.

Thankyou for replying, so it is because iodine has weak intermolecular forces in its solid state while aluminium and sodium have strong metalliic bonding and silicon has strong covalent bonds at room remp ( in terms of seeing silcon as silicon dioxide)

It's about structure and bonding

Aluminium and sodium, having metallic structures, do not contain molecules at all

Iodine has discrete molecules so that's the answer

Silicon does not have discrete molecules

Silicon
No, silicon is giant molecular. meaning it is not many distinct molecules https://www.chemguide.co.uk/atoms/st.../giantcov.html
