Can I do an EPQ privately?
The sixth form I’m going to go to doesn’t have the option to do an EPQ. Can I do it on my own?

Not unless you can find someone to assess and mark it. In practical terms I would say no.
You can do other things though and doing an EPQ isnt always the best option.

It's very unlikely you'll be able to. However, if you want an in-depth essay to talk about on your personal statement, find an essay competition to enter for your subject.
Lots of Oxbridge colleges run them, as do other universities.

Oh so do the teachers mark them or are they sent off to random examiners like GCSEs and A levels?

So like a sort of research essay? Because if I did an EPQ (atm) I’d like to do it on antibiotic resistance or something like that...

I do maths already, I mean like a research kind of essay that makes you more appealing to universities.

You can only do an EPQ at a school/college that offers this qualification - the whole point is that you are 'supervised' and 'mentored' by a teacher and guided through the research process. You can't do that 'on your own'.
