Hey everyone, i'd appreciate if this was answered by a muslim.
My new years resolution was to not masturbate and refrain from porn but I am struggling. I know that masturbation is permissible in circumstances to prevent yourself from adultery since it isn't spoken upon but i'd really appreciate advice. I cannot fast due to health problems and I am 16.

You can if you’re crafty. Does make driving the bus a challenge however.

Salam,

Spend more time in the path of Allah, by that I mean pray your namaz in time, and also pray Quran regularly, that will help a lot.

Fear Allah, he’s watching everything that you do and just imagine Him asking you about this in the day of judgement..
Death can come at any time too, and just imagine you passing away whilst you’re watching something or putting your hand where it shouldn’t be.

Keep having faith in Allah and put your trust into him, don’t give up, keep yourself busy too. You’re 16 and got a long way to go yet, so don’t ruin your life by doing these haram things, you’re better than this.

Confess it to your friends, family and especially your Iman. They will then stop it for you.

Asalamualaikum. First of, we Muslims don’t believe in the concept of “New Years resolution”. For we do not know when our soul may be departed from our body. Allah says that He will forgive the sins of the children of Adam (humans) even if they were like the foams of the sea. Never for one second doubt the mercy of Allah for He is All-Forgiving.

Secondly, masturbation is definitely a sin in Islam and so is watching porn. In fact it comes under the category of Zina, one of the worst sins in Islam. But does this mean all hope is lost? Does this mean you won’t be forgiven? NO. It’s better to act now by first making the sincere intention to stop. Do whudu and pray and make dua that the Almighty forgives you and promise to never go back again and In Sha Allah you will be forgiven.

As someone who has been in the same situation as you, here are a few tips to prevent this:

- don’t be alone. Once you’re alone you get such desires even more. Try to socialise, whether it be with family or friends or even do something productive such as going to the library or the park to play football, to the gym etc. When you’re busy, you reduce reduce opportunities for masturbation.

- Take care of your body: EAT MORE HEALTHILY! A new emphasis on caring for yourself may reduce urges or provide motivation to resist. It can also provide a new focus for your energy and efforts.

- don’t sleep naked. There should be a physical barrier between you and your genital area so you don’t feel the urge to “rub” yourself.

- SAY NO MORE TO PORN. Delete any accounts that may cause you to be more inclined to masturbation such as social media accounts where people “trade nudes”. But what’s stopping you from creating a new account? In this case you should limit the amount of screen time. Move your computer in a public place if you have to. This may seem a bit extreme to some but for a Muslim it isn’t. You can install porn blocking software. You can start following more Islamic pages and stop talking to the opposite sex.

- AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, STRENGTHEN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ALLAH. This can be done through praying 5 times a day, start studying the deen, repentance, constant dhikr throughout the day.

But make sure you don’t do all this at once. You will only last max a week doing all this at once. Take your time and gradually build on these steps. It’s like cramming before an exam, nothing will go into your brain. So this could take weeks or even months, depending on your situation.

I hope this helps and may Allah guide you and me to be the best Muslims. And may Allah grant us Jannah. Ameen.

Yeah I was weird at that time but I no longer struggle with any porn addiction or any masturbation because it's not right on my opinion. Others may say it's natural but I think not.
