For this question, I would suggest using Marxist/Fem views and evaluating them with functionalist points.
Marxist:
Althusser (1971) - Ideological state apparatus
Bourdieu (1977) - Cultural capital
Sugarman (1970) - Collectivism, Fatalism, Present Time Orientation, Immediate Gratification
Bernstein (1961) - Restricted speech code vs Elaborated speech code
Each of the above as a 1 of 4 sections for this essay. Each section to be evaluated by a functionalist view (Durkheim, Parsons, Davis & Moore etc.). If you get this question in the exam, you'll be living the dream.
