If I had a inadequate short term memory I wouldn’t be able to have a stable long term memory, so the answer is simple.

Nah, you can have a good short term memory, but a bad long term one and vice versa - quite often, ppl might not be able to remember something that happened a few days ago, but they have good childhood memories
