hi, I’m an international student taking accounting, physics, economics and mathematics in a levels. I just got my AS results recently and I scored all 90s for 3 subjects except for accounting-82. Im considering to drop accounting but I’m afraid that LSE’s conditional offer actually comes with the fourth subject requirement or they require the fourth subject at A level not AS level. I applied for Accounting and Finance. Anyone got conditional offer from LSE? Do they want that fourth subject?

Do you have an offer from LSE yet? If so, does it specify Accounting for you, or just certain grades at 3 A-levels?

If it only asks for 3 A-levels, you could inform LSE that you intend to drop A2 Accounting. Ask them if that's okay.

As it is, you've got an A grade for AS Accounting (as well as 3 other subjects), so you have already achieved at a solid level in that subject.

I haven receive offers from LSE. That’s the reason I’m concern about dropping my fourth. However, I think I can really focus on the other 3 subs and get really good results for the 3. I might lose out one or two A* if I take accounting as it might divert my time. I’m really lost for this decision. Do you mind telling me your opinion?

Your application is under consideration at the moment. Although you may want to act quickly, I'd wait to see exactly what the LSE wants before taking action either way.

Don't do anything to jeopardise your application. After all, you have told them you're sitting Accounting at A2.

Having said all that, since Accounting is not one of the highest frequency A-levels, you may well be able to ask LSE to amend an offer to exclude it **after the offer comes in**. This is very likely to be approved as BSc Accounting and Finance does not require A2 Accounting. You need AAA at A-level (any subjects, but including Maths at Grade A if you don't have an A/7 at GCSE).
