Students doing completely different courses not related to their A levels?

Im currently doing my a levels in yr 12 and I want to do medicine/science based courses in uni as I am doing Maths Chemistry and Biology. But I am feeling deep regret for not picking one of my favourite and passionate subjects-history for A levels and I would love to study classical Greece and Rome. Heres the catch I did not pick history for a level but i got great grades in GCSE. Let's take it theoretically and say that yes, I complete my science based course in uni, could I then go on as a mature student to privately take an History A level and then apply to another course such as Classical History or Archaeology courses as it is one of my deep interests? I know it would take very long but I'd most definitely like to study it. Don't worry about time management and stuff i'm just asking is it possible to do this because I dont know much about the circumstances here. Please reply  thanks!

I don't see why not - I was home educated and took my A Levels as an external candidate. You could study an extra A Level alongside uni (or whenever) if you wanted? Just be aware you might not be able to get a student loan for a second degree

Actually, you could apply for archaeology with your current all-science A levels. Have a look at some of the course websites and see if the courses appeal to you. See if you can get some practical experience on a dig, or volunteering at a museum to show your interest,

You can apply for lots of History & Ancient History degree courses without History A level. My son's doing one at Exeter!

Check with the universities you apply to but most Classics/Ancient History courses don't have ay subject requirements and your subjects would actually be beneficial/a requirement for a BSc Archaeology course. I do Egyptology but lots of my friends do Archaeology/Ancient History/Classics or a combination of these so feel free to ask me any questions.
