    My syllabus (CIE further maths) states:

    Use de Moivre’s theorem, for a positive or negative rational exponent in the summation of series.

    I am unsure of what kind of series are referred to here. I even checked many past papers but couldn't find a single example. Can anyone give me an example? Thank you .
