The real part is the resistance and the imaginary part is the reactance
so for (6+j9) the resistance is 6 ohms and the reactance is 9 ohms inductive reactance XL (+ve j means inductance)
and for (7-j8) the resistance is 7 ohms and the reactance is 8 ohms capacitive reactance XC (-ve j means capacitive)
the formula for inductive reactance is XL = 2πfL
the formula for capacitive reactance is XC = 1/(2πfC)
so you need to rearrange those to make C or L the subject and sub in the given frequency of 50Hz
so for (6+j9) the resistance is 6 ohms and the reactance is 9 ohms inductive reactance XL (+ve j means inductance)
and for (7-j8) the resistance is 7 ohms and the reactance is 8 ohms capacitive reactance XC (-ve j means capacitive)
