Can I study a Middle Eastern Archaeology or Egyptology Masters w/ an English degree?

Hi all,

I'm in my final year of studying BA English at a Russel Group University. I've always had a passion for Middle Eastern Archaeology and Egyptology and I've decided I want to pursue a masters in either of them. My problem is, however, that I'm worried I won't be accepted as my degree may not fulfil the requirement. I've looked at both Cambridge and UCL and they have asked for a 2:1 or a 1st in archaeology or a related subject (I'm hoping English may count).

What do you guys think? Could I be accepted with an English degree? Please let me know.

If they say they want a related degree I think you are unlikely to get in. I would email them now to ask.
