Hey...after realising i wanted to study optometry at uni with a-levels already in chemistry, history and psychology. I have decided to take a gap year and hope to complete an Access to HE Sciemce course starting in Sept 2019 and then applying for optometry in the year 2020. Just wanted to know of anyone else is in a similar position and any advice would be appreciated . Thanks!

Hi - sorry you haven't had a response to this yet. I'm just going to bump the thread in the hope that someone sees this and can help

Why do I do this?

The Universities forums get a lot of questions that are unanswered. This is often because the OP's thread got missed - bumping threads gives them another lease of life and frequently results in someone seeing it and being able to respond

If you would like to help with unanswered questions check out the first part of the list here and don't forget the second part of the list here.

Or if you have questions, get in touch with Puddles the Monkey.

Hiya

Just to let you know that we do accept Access courses for Optometry but would advise that all the UCAS points for Optometry will have to come from the Access (we couldn't use the points from your A-levels as well).

The Access route is quite popular, especially for mature students so there will be plenty of people in your position. You may wish to consider getting some work experience in that field - either by volunteering or a paid position as this could really help when writing your personal statement.

We can sometimes be quite particular about which Access courses we accept for Optometry - therefore once you have found one, please contact our admissions team to see if we could accept it for Optometry - you will need to email [email protected]

Thanks
Joe

Hi, I hope you are well. I'm currently studying an access course after completing my A levels, I would definitely recommend as the work is starightforward making it rather easy in acheiving distinctions in set modules.

If you have any questions feel free to message me.
