So I am going to be studying occupational therapy at Huddersfield uni in September 2019. I’ll be living in Huddersfield. I’ve been looking at both halls and studio flats but I’m more interested in a studio flat, only because I want to live by myself and I don’t think I’d want to live with 4 other people. I want my own space with my own kitchenette and en-suite, but I’m worried if I do this I lose the opportunity of meeting new people and friends. I’m worried that I’ll be living in Huddersfield for 44 weeks at studio flat by myself but then not be able to socialise with others. I’m just wondering on advice ? Should I move into my own studio or do you think halls are a necessary to be able to socialise and have friends at Uni. I don’t want to be alone when I move , I’m so worried !!

Don't worry about not socializing, you meet people in studios next to you and tbh, most people don't make friends with the people in their immediate flats. There's so many different ways and places to meet people, don't stress!

Hi Kadieclairexo
Glad to hear you are joining us in September!
DIGS Student are our approved, recommended and preferred provider of student accommodation - they run Storthes Hall and Ashenhurst Student Houses. Storthes Hall is a larger complex with lots of activities and facilities, wheras Ashenhurst is a smaller, quieter complex in walking distance of the University. Both are a great way to meet new friends when you first start at uni. However, we also have lots of socities that you can join, various activities in the University and many Students's Union events, so I'm sure you will meet lots of people on and off your course either way.
If you have any questions about studying with us, let me know!
See you soon
Rachel

I’ve read some bad things about it too, but one of my friends is there and she said it was alright so if it is that bad, it is only a year, but I guess I’ll see

What about the no hot water and at times it being brown aswell as the terrible WiFi and it being infested with silverfish. Surely that's enough to put anyone off
