LSE accommodation Q and A

Hey,I was on the London Halls website and it led me to this waiting list jotform which I completed and I thought ok I did it, my accommodation should be on its way. It turns out that's not what you do to get accommodation and all of it is almost gone, and I'm panicking now. I'm either going to have to break the bank or live somewhere crap and I don't know what to do, especially self-catered options are all gone help

I've booked Rosebery which is catered and is actually pretty cheap (compared to the others) - I think it's still available. Passfield and Carr-Saunders also might be, though I know Bankside and Garden Halls are gone.

Hi. Also I looked at the catered accomodation at the remaining halls and despite being catered, they have kitchens on each floor with microwaves hobs, toasters (except connaught Hall I think which doesn’t have hobs)

Hello! I made a provisional booking at the Bankside House and I realized that even though it is a catered hall, breakfast is not provided. How do you guys get breakfast usually if you are a Bankside resident?

Hey, I have also chosen to stay at Bankside. From what I’ve read people pay to keep the mini fridge in their room to store milk etc as well as cereal in their room and then just have breakfast by themselves. I don’t think there’s much of everyone having breakfast together more of an individual thing. I’ve also heard some people just get something to eat and drink on campus.

looking forward to seeing you all at Bankside!

Hey, I only firmed LSE a few days ago and was freaked out when I saw that Garden Halls and Bankside were gone as those were my top two. In the heat of the moment I booked Carr-Saunders as I heard it has a good social life. I’m just wondering, however, how were you able to check availability - had you not booked yet? For me, now that I’ve made a reservation, it won’t let me see what’s available on the website so I can’t change accommodation. If you could help I’d really appreciate it as id like to be able to track what comes up!

I hadn’t booked. I went back on 2 days later to look for other accomodation and there it was. So I booked it quickly
Hey, can anyone tell me if there are still single rooms available in the catered accommodations?
hi im thinking of bringing a mini fridge to my student accommodation and was wondering if im able to hide it during inspection and possibly avoid paying the additional £60 for extra electricity.

hi im thinking of bringing a mini fridge to my student accommodation and was wondering if im able to hide it during inspection and possibly avoid paying the additional £60 for extra electricity.

I mean, you’d get kicked out of halls if you got caught - because all electrical devices you bring with you must be declared in week 1 so they can be safety tested by an electrician. So by hiding it, you’d be violating the halls contract and putting your fellow students at risk.

And, btw, you won’t get any of your rent refunded if you get kicked out, so it could end up costing you way more than £60 a term.

Plus, I don’t know what hall you’re in, but most simply do not have the space to hide a mini fridge, even if you wanted to.

Just pay it lol
I have lived at bankside this year and I think the committee got the fee down to £30 so it's really not worth the risk. Also there are usually shared kitchens where you can put your food. Even if occasionally a bottle of milk disappears it is way cheaper than paying the fee and buying your own fridge

I have troubles connecting to the page for booking the accommodation, everytime I tried refreshing the website, it shows that "Sorry, Hallpad is temporarily unavailable". Did anyone encounter the same problem? I would also like to confirm if I am on the right page which is this https://studentaccommodation.lse.ac.uk/hallpad/... I could not register for my LSE account on http://selfreg.lse.ac.uk/ either, all it showed was that "the details you have entered to not match those that we hold for you", do I need this account to apply for accommodation?

LSE is currently experiencing a major fault which has impacted a number of our IT services and applications, including HALLPAD. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. The team are working hard to fix the issue but I’m afraid we’re unable to advise exactly when the system will be available again at present.

The accommodation booking deadline of 31 May 2020 will be revised to 3 June 2020 to allow for this. You will still be able to book accommodation subject to availability.

Hi, please contact the Accommodation team at [email protected]
You will still be able to book halls subject to availability but the accommodation guarantee policy no longer applies after the deadline. Please see here: http://www.lse.ac.uk/student-life/accommodation/apply
Hi @LSE
I received an email today saying all the Autumn term lectures will be online and that it is going to be mandatory to wear a face covering inside at LSE buildings including in communal areas in halls of residences. Due to cost, I have opted to have a shared triple room. Will I be able to have a shared room if I can't share a lecture theatre with fellow students? What happens at meal times in catered halls if we have to have face coverings in communal areas?

Further information will be communicated to offer holders once it has been finalised. By the time you receive your online induction in late summer, the accommodation team will be able to provide further details in regard to the practical arrangements and how to use shared spaces safely.

If anyone is still looking for accommodation near LSE, I'm looking for someone to take over my contract for the next academic year.

It's for a one bedroom ensuite room in a shared flat at Unite Students. It's £205pw which is reasonable considering the contract includes bills, wifi, common room, study room, laundry facilities etce

The accommodation is in Tottenham hale, north London and is a 2 min walk away from the underground station. Only takes 15 minutes to get to zone 1.

Message me if interested!
