Hello,
I have a general question: I notice that each college at Oxford has a set number of places for Modern Languages. For example, St. Hilda's will have 12 places each year.
However, I am wondering if the foreign language you apply for matters. There are like 8 languages offered at Oxford in modern languages, but obviously there will be significantly more people applying for, say, French or Spanish, rather than a language like Russian or Italian (sole)? In general, does this mean that applying with a popular language make it harder/more competitive?
Also, I understand that you can apply for two languages: let's say, you apply for Spanish and Greek (ab initio), does this mean that both sets of tutors/interviews would have to find you Oxford material?
I understand that you still do have to be Oxford material: if you are the only one applying for a certain subject and you suck at interviews, they would still reject you anyways.
Thank you.
