“Two bombs at a Roman Catholic cathedral in southern Philippines have killed 20 people and injured dozens more, local officials say.
The first blast happened as Sunday Mass was being celebrated at the church on Jolo island, where Islamist militants are active.
As soldiers responded, a second device was detonated in the car park.
The attack comes days after a majority-Muslim area in the region voted for greater autonomy in a referendum.
No group has so far said it was behind the attack. Jolo has long been a base for militants including those of the Abu Sayyaf group.”
EDIT: Islamic State has now claimed responsibility

Sad news, Christians are often facing violence by Muslim terrorists worldwide; in many Islamic countries we can’t practice our religion freely without the daily threat of violence. And if a Muslim decides they want to convert to Christianity they are eligible for the death penalty in most Islamic countries.

We can be sure that this attack on a RC cathedral wasn't carried out by Protestants of any description. On the other hand, where mosques are attacked like this, it's by other types of Muslims in conflict with those particular worshippers. Of course there's a couple of exceptions, e.g. what China is doing in Xinjiang, and in Burma.

It’s despicable how little coverage we get of the persecution Christians suffer in Islamic countries and regions. In many Muslim countries, churches receive frequent threats, Christians have to worship in secret, converts have to hide their true identity and are generally treated as second class citizens. Obviously this applies to all the non-Muslim religions in those countries but there aren’t exactly many Buddhists and Sikhs in Syria let’s face it. I can’t believe the Philippines is giving their Muslims more autonomy, this will just pave the way for more division between Christians and Muslims and will lead to more discrimination against both groups in the future.
