Hi Everyone!

I am intending to apply for Social Psychology Masters programs and wonder if anyone could give some advice on Universities/courses.

My background is a little different. I did a BA in Psychology but don't have a Hons years. However, spent 3 years after graduation working directly under a Psychologist. I have my CV and reference letters to verify this.

After doing some research, I narrowed down on the following Universities (in no particular order):

1. Goldsmiths UOL - Psychology of Social Relations
2. University of Surrey - Social Psychology
3. University of Exeter - Social and Organisational Psychology
4. University of Sussex - Applied Social Psychology

I would like to apply for LSE's Social and Cultural Psychology program as well, but am afraid that I am way below minimum qualifications given their competitive applications.

Would love to hear from any current students or alumni on your thoughts and experiences! Thank you in advance!

Most of these programs look fine. Big question is, do you already have a BPS accredited degree, and if not, will you be needing one for whatever you plan to do in the future? Because, in this case you should probably do an accredited conversion Masters first (yes, even if you already have a psychology degree). If you can find one that also includes a social psychology element/specialization, even better.

Otherwise, just go ahead with one of these (from your list). LOL @ the LSE fees (as per usual).

Hi and thank you for the reply!

My degree was from an Australian University and accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. I wonder if that works as well?

I intend to do consulting work, teaching and research in the future with a specialisation in Social & Organisational Psychology. Would definitely prefer a BPS accredited one, but it seems rare for Social Psych programs.

Well... I'll start studying Psychology in September for the first time (MSc), and I am also not a UK resident so I am not sure how useful a BPS accredited masters would be for you. Perhaps some more experienced TSR users will have a better advice than me. Do you plan to live/work in the UK or return to Australia? Anyway, good luck!
