Wills Hall vs. CHH

How about the walk back? Trudging back - even to CHH - is never fun after a stressy, hectic 3 hours afternoon practical.
(or maybe i'm just a lazy sod who acts like a bit of a headless chicken in labs..)

Varies from day to day I guess, depending on mood, weather and who I'm with! I've now worked out though that Blackboy Hill to Cotham hill takes 9 minutes to walk, and I now delude myself that Blackboy Hill is practically home, and Cotham hilll is essential Uni, so my walk is really only 10 minutes!

If you go to Wills it will be because you like a traditional atmosphere (weekly formals with strict traditions of rising in silence for high table and grace etc, mandatory wearing of academic gowns, over a century old billiard room and library, enormous old grounds set on an old orchard, living in the traditional uni style quad layout, huge rooms with oak features, fireplaces, and mantlepieces). We also get better food and things from our own uni independent catering service because our hall owns most of the buildings and land around it/ has sold it and has the proceeds in its coffers.

Don't know anyone who cares about the walk that much, most love it, and being in Stokey B is the closest thing you'll get to a fun campus feel and getting to know loads of people in other halls. The location is not really the reason to choose a hall.

Nah, the sale of the other buildings formerly part of Wills were used by the University when it was cash-strapped in the 1970s. Possibly worth warning people that only about half the rooms fit with that description and the food at CHH is arguably better, although ours is none too shabby.
How are the walks during winter or through rain?

I agree with paranoid kid, both are highly oversubscribed

CHH formals aren't very often -we've had halloween, xmas, and valentines day (and don't forget the snowball) - but to be honest, a new JCR have now been elected in, and are looking really promising - our new bar treasurer and manager have completely transformed our bar (did anyone hear about the goings-on last friday..?)
It's lovely being so close to uni, particularly because i'm in quite alot. Also, living so close to the triangle, and being 20-30 mins from the centre, going out is that much more convenient for us lazy sods ...

Rooms aren't bad - south wing rooms (with sinks) are the narrow ones! fry wings are boxy and decent sized - my boyfriend's got a keyboard in his room and it's fine  (not sure about the size of it, i'll ask him) OC have the lovely big rooms.

Our warden is a bit strict and moans about all the drinking and debauchery...but everyone just carries on anyway =P

Would this be the stripper? Apparently this was one of the liveliest nights CHH has had all year. I hear there were a lot of Wills people there that night since formals have finished for exams, take what you like from this little fact...

There was indeed a stripper. Funny times.
