evaluate the claim that alternative family structures are threatening the existence of the nuclear family.25 marks
Break down the words (and their meanings) in the question:

Nuclear family/alternative family structures = define the terms

Evaluate = collect, analyse and interpret relevant information. Apply to the topics in question to judge its effectiveness, efficiency and any other outcomes it may lead to.

The claim = who made this claim? In what context? What is their proof (stats/studies)? And is there any other scholar or sociologist who agrees/disagrees with them? Discuss the views in this area.

Threatening the existence = use official statistics and studies that support this, and then try to find conflicting ideas too (meaning: stats, studies or academics/scholars that DISAGREE with the claim in question).

Once you do this with your questions, you will find it so much easier to build a structure to your essay to answer the Q.

(Not in the Q but I’m just explaining what you need to include in one) Conclusion = consider the info you’ve collected and reach a decision.
