Hi, I've moved this to the Studying in North America forum. Have a look at the stickied threads at the top of the forum.

Go to a UK University and study abroad. Yes, some study abroad schemes are only one semester, but some are a whole year (the english and american studies course at UoM has a year at Berkeley, for example, or semesters abroad at Rutgers or Arizona State or NC Chapel Hill, or many more) and you'd only pay UK fees, rather than American. Then, you can do a postgraduate in the States.

Failing that if you really are set on a US undergraduate, look into the Fulbright Commission. They help with scholarships and applications .

Hi there,

If you don't have enough money to pay upfront, then it's going to be extremely difficult to get enough funding to go to college in the U.S. Unless you are a prospective Olympic athlete or an extremely bright student with some amazing volunteer and work experience, it's highly unlikely that you will get a full-ride scholarship.

I agree with TwoLimes that you should study at a UK university and do a year abroad.

What year are you in? Why do you want to go to an American college?

If your grades are not the best, you could also consider a foundation year in the U.K. which may be easier to get into.

Make sure you check the international admission requirements before applying to the universities you are considering. Though I would expect it to cover very little of your tuition fees and would not expect to receive it, you can apply for on-campus and private scholarships that do not necessarily have a GPA requirement to apply and may be open to international students

Some private U.S. universities give partial scholarships to all incoming freshman students including international students.

You can also apply to schools with limited tuition such as Berea College; however it may be very difficult to get in and priority may be given to U.S. residents with financial need. https://www.berea.edu/
