I’m just wondering, do the Uni accommodations get shared with girls and guys or is like gender separated if that makes sense ?

I dont think they are allowed to enforce gender policies like that no. If they do anyone could just say they identify as the other gender lol

different unis allocate rooms in different ways, normally the flats can be mixed but you can often request a 1 gender flat if you prefer

The vast majority of flats will be mixed gender (although everyone will have their own room). Most unis will have a few single-gender flats though for e.g. students from religious/conservative families who otherwise wouldn't be allowed to go to university.

Any shared rooms would of course be single-gender.

So do you get put with pretty much any group of people or is it based on your course ?

I’ve never heard of course-based accommodation. It’s usually pretty mixed - scientists, historians, geographers, English lit students, medics etc all mixed in together.

Some unis give you a form to fill out so they can put you with other people who share certain personality traits - e.g. tend to be quite quiet.

You can request mixed or all of the same sex. Though you won't always get this- everyone in my flat put mixed but we're an all girls flat but it worked out fine for us.

Hi!

Our students can choose where they stay when they book with us! They can see a range of what rooms are available, the gender/year of study/university that the other tenants so they can pick which flat would be best for them! Altneratively, we put students together who are on similar courses in the same year as we find the students prefer to live with people who are on the same living pattern as them.

This may be different across other accommodations - but I hope this helps!
