Do you believe life is becoming too complicated?

It is a somewhat general question, I will try to break it down into some specifics -

-Do you agree with the Q and desire more simplicity in your life, including you feel you (we) need more down time? Or disagree and believe everything is managable and think there is too much time to be idle and think?

-How do you personally prevent things in your daily life from becoming too complicated? (IE do you put a lot into your downtime, minimise certain usage of technology or shut out certain things in life?)

-Do you fear that in future you will feel things will get too complicated and life will very easily get overwhelming? (IE would you think you would reject certain forms of technology in future for sake of simplicity?)

I would love some simplicity in my life, but unfortunately that will never happen, too many factors I have no control over.

I believe that with modern technology always at our fingertips people nowadays end up thinking too much and having short attention spans. Unfortunately I don't really do anything about it, as I'm one of them.

I think my life is fine as it is. I’m in charge of it so I have created time for down time and time for work at the balance that is write for me. Sometimes things get overwhelming eg if something happens in my family or if exams are coming up. And sometimes I have way too much free time eg holidays and I end up bored but on most days I’m fine. I have time to rock climb and read and watch tv. I have time to do work. I have plenty of time to socialise and it’s probably the thing that I do the most and I enjoy it. The only real problem is trying to get enough sleep when I have a naturally late sleep cycle but I need to rise early for school. You can’t blame technology for your problems after all your the one in control of it. It’s not a sentient being. Life is only as complicated as you make it.

While I believe life is becoming more complicated as the years tick by, I also believe humanity becomes more intelligent to compensate, therefore cancelling out any illusion that our life is indeed becoming more compicated.

We can see this through the constant increase in difficulties of specifications for academic curriculums. If a 40 year old walked into a maths GCSE exam of today, he/she would likely have no idea what on earth anything means, even if that person is well educated in their upbringing. Yet, Generation Z are expected to have full knowledge of everything on the paper at, or in some cases before, their 16th birthday.

That's just how the world works, and has worked since the very beginning of the human race.

Everyday, I wish for a simple life - but clearly this is not the path I am intended to take. My life is complicated, its interesting but it has downsides.

I fear my future will only get more complicated, but perhaps I will be used to it.

While I get that certain conventions and processes (mostly legal stuff, insurance, tax, responsibility, even things like cars, electricals, etc.) are for our benefit, I'd LOVE to escape everything and just live out in the country on a farm. Life is overwhelming enough as it is, I'd love to be self-sufficient and completely removed from modern society. Everything moves too fast, but the things that count take too long.

Just let me be a mid-1800s cowboy who would die from TB at 29, lmao.

Agreed, however I think that younger people are taught to get the most complicated/complex of jobs, aim to live in the busy city, keep every modern gadget - to throw themselves right in it all because they are taught that is the only way of living. Along with being taught to think, think, think and barely 'do'

Even with all the complications you can still lead a fairly simple life.
