but this is a vote of hatchbacks

GTD, the rest are hairdresser cars or bought by people which live off finance. Plus the GTD looks sexy.

Why the GTD specifically? It's like comparing apples and oranges - the GTD is not in the same class as the other three.
If you were to just say a Golf rather than the GTD, I'd go for the A3.
Not really. One is mainly sold as a hatchback, the other as a saloon/coupe. It has little to do with being able to afford the C. (Even then, low specced C classes can be pretty nasty)
Using this logic, the C class is a poor man's E/S class. Would I trade in my E63 for a S63? No - it's too heavy. It's not about money. They're just different categories of cars for different needs. I.e, Hatch, Compact Saloon, Executive Saloon, Limousine.
Getting back on topic. All the cars above are decent. It boils down to personal preference. However, I've been impressed with the latest A class. As long as you don't go near base spec, and make sure to get the upgraded displays etc, it's a big jump from the usual iterational improvement.
