hi
this is my supporting information for a nursing apprenticeship. I was wondering if anyone can give me any tips on how to improve it. the
Supporting Information Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory
In this section you need to demonstrate that you have read the published person specification and how you meet the essential and (where relevant) desirable criteria for this particular post, if this has not been fully covered in the previous sections.
Please include your reasons for applying and take the opportunity to highlight your particular talents and strengths, (what you feel you can personally offer - what is unique to you - what sets you apart from your peers).
Please DO NOT include personal details or duplicate information already provided elsewhere in your application.
Confidence. Curiosity. Ambition. Traits that are getting harder to find these days. Things that people have lost to time and endless routine. Few are willing to leave the "normal" rhythm of school, university, degree, job. ( As you will see, I am confident in being different, I am happy to not conform to the norm.) Today I present you with an opportunity to change that. To change how the world sees employment. To show that university is not for everyone. Luckly, I am one of those people to help you do that.
I have been interested in science since I was in year 10 when an explosive experiment sparked my curiosity. My then science teacher sat us down for assembly, and produced a large 5 litreer bottle. “Watch closely” she said. She proceeded to light a lighter and bring it close to the bottles mouth, then she ran to the opposite side of the stage. Suddenly, the entire contents of the bottle was on fire! It shot out the bottles into a massive pillar of fire, and died down as swiftly as it started. This will stick with me for life, and I know that this is what God intended to show me, to point me in the right direction.
Ever since I held a child for the first time, I have wanted to care for children - I even did work experience with children aged 5 - 10 (Abelle). More recently I met some of my long lost relatives in Nigeria, and one of them had a 1 month old baby. From that point onwards I was their babysiiter- niece.I learnt some important things about infants, such as how to calm them, how to tell if they are hungry and how to hold them in the position that is most comfortable for them.(My parents call me the baby whisperer). Can you guess the best thing about it?? *I loved every single second of it ( throughout all the crying, pooping and peeing on me !).
This opportunity is a chance to combine my talents and find a career in Nursing and Maternity.
Science has given me curiosity while caring for children makes my life feel more complete. Together they give me the drive to be adventurous and break out of the mould, to try something different. A maternity apprenticeship. At the end of it, I hope to be more knowledgeable and be a few steps closer to finding my calling. Right now, however, my heart is set on becoming a neonatal nurse.
Becoming an apprentice would help me to bridge the gap between student and adult much earlier and much more gradually than my university counterparts. I want to challenge myself and get some real-life experience, while still having access to a familiar college setting. Even if I do not find what I want to do right at this specific moment in time, it will surely open doors for me where I thought there were walls.
In short, I wholeheartedly believe that I am the enthusiastic, ambitious, apprentice that will benefit from collaborating with others with similar visions to me; while gaining experience in a place that heavily emphasises on caring for others. This is what makes me unique. This is what makes me , (name).
Thank you.
