RAF Medical GP records

Hi Everyone,

I have read through a fair few threads on here but was looking to see if I can get any direct answers (hopefully from a recent applicant).

My question is, does the Capita Doctor who does your medical already request your GP records and have them waiting for you when you arrive? Or will they only request them if you highlight something that needs looking into?

The only reason I'm asking is that if they don't automatically request them then I will have plenty of time to go get a copy from my GP.

Thanks.

I recently passed my medical. They dont request GP records unless they flag up a specific reason to do so. I got found temporaily unfit twice and on the third 'round' they cleared me. They still havent seen my records as they didnt need them to determine whether I was medically fit - they only needed a specific document from a specialist.

Hi,Is this definitely true? They won't look at every time you've been to the doctors and why?I only ask as I went to the doctors when I was feeling low at one point. But it did not go any further, it was just one appointment, talked then left. I was hoping that wouldn't be seen as a weakness and effect my medical. Thanks in advance.

Hi

In all honesty, you don't need to worry about that. The medical is in place to make sure that you're fit for RAF service, that's why it's part of the process. It doesn't matter whether they have access before or after your appointment. The ability to check your records is to make sure that there's nothing that will mean you can't do the role you've applied for.

Focus on the medical itself and being ready for the stages after that.

Kind regards

Did you ever find out? My GP is really slow too
Hey Adam or anyone who can help out.

I’m in the process of rejoining the raf after 11 yrs out from the Royal Engineers (Army). With regards to the medical would you know if they would look at my med history from my previous service. Just wondering if things like my shin splits and knocks I got from playing rugby would affect the result of me passing it or getting graded a P8 unfit for service.

This thread is very old, you're unlikely to get responses from the people here.

Outcome of what? Read the sticky on this Forum about applications and medicals, and start a new thread if you still have any queries.
