If it was me I would get the Honor Play as it has the Kirin 970 SoC, the same as my premium smartphone, the Huawei P20 Pro, so should be fast. It comes with 64gb of storage (expandable by up to 256gb with a micro SD card), 4gb of ram, has USB Type C, a headphone jack, 1080p display and a large 3,750mAh battery.
Watch Youtube videos on it to see if you like it.

Honor Play is definitely better than the P20 lite and is around the same price with a better processor.

Honor 8x, Honor Play, Pocophone F1 (has a snapdragon 845 which is the same processor found in the Oneplus 6T, which is regarded as one of the fastest, if not the fastest android phone on the market), Samsung Galaxy A7. Search them up on YouTube and watch a couple of reviews, typically you'll find more options this way also

The Pocophone F1 or Huawei Honor Play are the best sub-£250 phones by a solid margin, both excellent flagship tier devices with very few drawbacks considering their price. You can find full details of both devices in the budget section of my Smartphone Buying Guideo to decide which is better for you. My top recommendation would be the Pocophone, but if you want to use NFC features like wireless payments then the Honor Play is my choice.

Huawei's are around that price range, brand new and they're mid-range - high quality phones. I would highly recommend Huawei!

I have the lite and my boyfriend changed from iPhone to the P20. His is slightly larger than mine and the fingerprint unlock is on the screen, whereas mine is a circle on the back. I don't think they're hugely different, though I think he has an extra camera. You would have to check the specs, but Huawei's are great phones! My lite is one of the best phones I've ever had and is made to a high quality.

You could just get a £25 per month contract - £250 would be enough to make payments for the next 10 months.
And that way you get a new phone, (most like likely with: ) better specs than the ones retailing for £250, phone usage plan will be included, and you have 10 months to save up for the rest of the payments.
