I'm intending to join the RAF as a WSO Linguist and I was wondering if all WSOLs are posted to the Lincolnshire base as it seems to say on the website. Many thanks

Yes, mostly. They do a specific job on a specific unit. They aren't linguists in the usual translator sense, attending meetings, conferences translating documents etc.

Hi Eoin. It’s WSOp Linguist (not WSO) and you will be applying for a non-commissioned aircrew trade mostly flying on one of our ISTAR assets as you rightly point out, in Lincolnshire. It is very much an airborne role. The ground equivalent is Int Analyst Linguist. You will be required to pass the modern language aptitude test and the WSOp Linguist aptitude test at OASC. Once you have done that and passed the Capita Medical, your next test will be OASC Exercise Phase, Interview, fitness test and specialist aircrew medical.
