Is it safe visiting Ireland (the Republic) as a British person from England or am I likely to face hostility?

Are you for real?!

Yes, you will be hung, drawn and quartered. I dare you to sing "God Save the Queen" on O'Connell Street.

Well I know the Irish don't really like the british, not surprising why and just wanted to know if I would have any problems as a british tourist in dublin

Probably best to avoid Scotland and Wales too.

You'll be absolutely fine- i am 'english' - i have a strong english accent and i go to a catholic school in the south of Northern Ireland, where the hostility was worst at the time of the troubles and i have never faced any hostility!

I live in Ireland. Nobody has anything against British people anymore. Everyone has moved on. Definitely come to this country. You will be warmly welcomed by anyone 😁 ( try to avoid the 12th of July though, it can be risky). You will have a great time in this beautiful little country.

Of course it's safe! You might get a few strange looks if you say something like 'Londonderry', or 'Southern Ireland', but honestly you'd probably deserve it.

I find this thread a bit sad. A lot of people also still seem to think Northern Ireland is a war zone. You should visit Ireland and you’ll be perfectly safe.

Southern Irish hate us. I don’t care though, they’re just a bunch of peasants.
That is *******s. I went to a hurling game in Cork last year and everyone was lovely.
