I’m in year 12, I passed maths with a 4 and my teacher came up to me to tell me that the ‘guidelines’( forgot the name or something like that) are now saying that 5 is a pass and he’s telling me that to enter universities you’ll need a 5 and that I’ll need to resit maths????

I only got a C grade in maths back when they had the old system. A lot of the courses I applied for preferred a B grade at GCSE maths. I still got offers from them, your GCSE grades don’t matter all that much tbh. Just do better in your A-levels and have a strong personal statement, I’m sure everything will work out fine!

It depends on the course and the university, but yes.

I can't verify what constitutes a pass nowadays, but many unis don't care about your GCSE grades. Even then, retroactively changed boundaries are usually taken into account. It's really not something worth worrying about

Many do care about Maths.
And many don't. As is always the answer with these threads, it depends entirely on the uni. Some do care about GCSEs and some don't.

And while I don't like to make assumptions about people, if the OPs Maths grade is representative of their other grades, it's unlikely they'll be applying to a highly competitive uni where GCSE grades are really going to matter anyway.
