Look into Ursula K. Le Guin. Her Earthsea series are great fantasy adventure books. Some of her science fiction books, particularly The Left Hand of Darkness and The Dispossessed, are just astonishingly beautiful, thoughtful, and meaningful.

May she rest in peace.

The Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman.
The Nightside series (12 books) by Simon R. Green.
The Dresden Files (15 books so far) series by Jim Butcher.

There's authors on here too, a couple of whom are published. PinkMobilePhone (known in the real world as Nat Gosney)'s Wolf Born books are worth reading.

There's also my own (Mark Tuson) Force of the Gods trilogy.
